As the first quarter of 2023 comes to a close, Sensor Tower provides a comprehensive look at the performance of the top Film & Television applications on Android in Europe. The data extracted from our analytics offers a glimpse into the trends shaping the digital entertainment industry.
Disney+ exhibited a notable decrease in both downloads and weekly active users. Downloads dropped from around 831k in the last week of December to approximately 306k by the end of March. Simultaneously, weekly active users saw a decline from nearly 11.5 million to around 10.5 million.
Netflix, while not generating any revenue via the app, showed a similar downward trend. The platform's downloads decreased from around 454k to 271k, and weekly active users showed a significant drop from around 29 million to approximately 24 million.
Amazon Prime Video faced a slight decline in downloads, starting the quarter with around 370k and ending with just over 217k. Weekly active users experienced fluctuations, ultimately decreasing from around 6.5 million to nearly 5.5 million.
Pluto TV: Watch TV & Movies had a varied quarter with downloads initially decreasing to around 126k in January but then rising to roughly 228k by the end of March. Weekly active users displayed a similar trend, initially falling to around 885k and then increasing to just over 1 million.
Lastly, HBO Max: Stream TV & Movies saw its downloads decrease from around 169k to 96k. Revenue showed a positive end to the quarter, rising from around $334k to approximately $351k. Weekly active users, however, followed a downward trajectory, dropping from around 790k to just over 744k.
