The first quarter of 2023 has been an interesting period for Film & Television applications in Latin America on the iOS platform. Sensor Tower data provides us with a closer look at the performance of these entertainment giants.
Netflix showed a revenue trend starting at around $135k and peaking at nearly $173k, with a slight dip to approximately $136k towards the end of Q1. Downloads for the app began at around 282k, reaching over 309k in the first week of January, and then experienced a gradual decline to around 205k. Weekly active users started at around 9.7 million, peaked at nearly 9.9 million, and ended the quarter with around 8.1 million.
HBO Max: Stream TV & Movies saw revenues beginning at around $583k, hitting a peak of over $917k, before ending the quarter at around $689k. Downloads spiked at around 266k in mid-January, but later settled to about 116k. The weekly active users showed a similar trend, initially at around 1.85 million, peaking at over 2.2 million, and closing the quarter at around 1.8 million.
For Disney+, revenues were strong at the start with around $884k, peaking at just over $1 million in the first week of January, and later leveling to around $600k. Downloads remained fairly consistent, with a start of around 137k and ending at about 101k. Weekly active users saw a decrease from approximately 2.16 million to around 1.75 million by the end of Q1.
Amazon Prime Video exhibited revenue numbers starting at around $78k, with a significant rise to nearly $127k in late February, and ending the quarter at about $97k. The app's downloads showed a gradual decline from roughly 124k to around 98k. Weekly active users started at just under 1 million and experienced a slight drop to around 849k.
Paramount+ began the quarter with revenue of about $82k, peaking at around $136k, and ending at approximately $108k. Downloads had a notable surge to around 241k in late January but eventually leveled out to nearly 48k by the end of March. Weekly active users displayed a significant increase from around 194k to over 383k in late January, before stabilizing at around 222k.
