In the fourth quarter of 2025, the music and podcast app landscape in New Zealand saw notable trends across the top five applications, as reported by Sensor Tower.

Spotify: Music and Podcasts from Spotify AB experienced fluctuations in weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $43K at the end of November. Weekly downloads saw a significant spike to around 12K in early December, while active users varied throughout the quarter, reaching over 1.1M at the start and end of the period.

YouTube Music by Google LLC showed a consistent rise in weekly revenue, culminating at about $26.5K in mid-December. Weekly downloads remained steady, with a peak of approximately 2.2K in late December. Active users increased to around 176K in early December.

SoundCloud: The Music You Love maintained a stable revenue stream, reaching about $12.3K in late December. Downloads were relatively constant, with slight dips and a peak of 1.7K at the start of the quarter. Active users showed an initial rise, peaking at 42.7K in late October before declining towards the end of the quarter.

TIDAL Music: HiFi sound from TIDAL exhibited modest revenue growth, with a high of nearly $4.1K in early December. Downloads were low, with a peak of 765 in early December, while active users saw minor fluctuations, ending the quarter with approximately 8.1K users.

Apple Music showed a slight increase in revenue, reaching around $1.7K in mid-December. Downloads were consistent, peaking at 647 in late October. Active users slightly decreased over the quarter, closing with about 4.7K.
