Top 5 Entertainment Apps on Android in Kenya, Q2 2024

The second quarter of 2024 saw interesting trends among the top entertainment apps on Android in Kenya. Here’s a closer look at how the leading apps performed in terms of weekly downloads and active users, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Netflix had a fluctuating download rate, starting at 34.6K in early April and dropping to around 9.8K by mid-May. However, it rebounded to 25.2K by the end of June. Active users saw a slight increase from 288K to 321K in April, followed by minor fluctuations, ending the quarter at approximately 294K.

Download video and HD Player started strong with 34.7K downloads in the first week of April, but experienced a decline to 5.4K by mid-May. It recovered slightly to 13.5K by the end of June. Active users exhibited a similar trend, starting at 46.3K and ending at 27.3K.

Video Downloader and Player saw a peak in downloads at 69.7K in the first week of April, followed by a significant drop to 691 by the last week of June. Active users mirrored this pattern, dropping from 84.9K to 49.4K over the quarter.

Music Downloader - MP3 Player witnessed a steady decline in downloads from 31.9K in early April to around 8.5K by the end of June. Active users also decreased from 14.9K to 5.3K over the same period.

Lastly, StarTimes ON-Live TV, Football had relatively stable download numbers, starting at 22.2K in early April and ending at 8.2K by late June. Active users started at 35.5K and fluctuated throughout the quarter, ending at approximately 19.2K.
