Q1 2024 U.S. Performance of Top Books Apps on Unified Platform

As the first quarter of 2024 comes to a close, Sensor Tower has gathered data on the performance of the top Books category apps in the United States on a unified platform. Here's a snapshot of how these apps fared in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.

Audible: Audio Entertainment saw a steady revenue throughout the quarter, with a peak of $5.3M in the first week of March. Downloads for Audible started at 219K in January and experienced a slight downtrend to 148K by the end of March. Weekly active users showed a slight decrease from 3.04M to 2.8M over the quarter.

Libby, by OverDrive maintained a consistent number of weekly active users, starting at 2.87M and ending the quarter at 2.66M. Downloads for Libby showed a more noticeable decline from 179K in the first week of January to 106K in the last week of March.

Amazon Kindle saw its revenue fluctuate, starting the quarter at $12K and ending with $7K. The app's downloads began at 157K and decreased to 89K by the quarter's end. Weekly active users for Kindle also saw a decline from 4.48M to 3.85M.

Goodreads: Book Reviews kicked off the quarter with a high of 332K downloads but experienced a downtrend to 50K by March. The weekly active users for Goodreads began at 931K, with a slight decrease to 700K over the three months.

hoopla Digital started with 45K downloads and ended the quarter with a similar figure of 46K. Weekly active users showed a more positive trend, increasing from 756K to 774K from January to March.
