In Q1 2024, the top five entertainment apps on the iOS platform in Nigeria—TikTok, Netflix, Movies Box, Showmax, and ReelShort - Short Movie & TV—exhibited diverse trends in downloads, revenue, and active user engagement.

TikTok saw its weekly revenue fluctuate, peaking at approximately $22K in the final week of January. Downloads showed a downward trend, starting at 54K in early January and ending at around 34K by the end of March. Active users, however, experienced a gradual increase, starting from 954K and reaching over 1M by the end of the quarter.

Netflix had a relatively stable revenue stream, with minor fluctuations, peaking at $198 in mid-January. Downloads decreased from 15K at the beginning of January to around 9.7K in the last week of March. Active users hovered around 120K, with a slight increase towards the end of the quarter, reaching nearly 125K.

Movies Box experienced modest revenue, peaking at $35 in mid-February. Downloads started strong at 16K in early January but gradually declined to around 8.5K by the end of March. Active users followed a similar trend, starting at 17K and ending at approximately 9.1K.

Showmax showed no revenue for the quarter but had a notable spike in downloads, reaching 34K in late January before stabilizing around 10K towards the end of March. Active users increased significantly, starting at 910 in late January and reaching over 34K by the end of March.

ReelShort - Short Movie & TV had a steady revenue stream, peaking at $2.5K in early January. Downloads varied, peaking at 8.2K in mid-January and dropping to around 3.5K by the end of March. Active users showed a steady increase, starting at 33K and peaking at over 46K in mid-March before slightly declining to 44K by the end of the quarter.
