In the first quarter of 2024, the top entertainment apps on the Android platform in Nigeria displayed diverse trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at the performance of these apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.

MovieBox-Asian Drama,HD Movies saw significant fluctuations in its weekly downloads. Starting the quarter at around 112K downloads, the app peaked at approximately 176K in the second week of January before experiencing a notable drop to around 35K by mid-February. Active users, however, remained relatively stable, starting at 237K and peaking at 335K by mid-February before settling at 298K by the end of March.

Netflix maintained a steady download rate throughout the quarter, beginning at roughly 38K and ending at 42K weekly downloads. Active user numbers showcased a slight variation, starting at 494K, with minor fluctuations, and closing the quarter at 482K.

Showmax had a notable spike in weekly downloads, peaking at about 93K in late January, then stabilizing to around 25K by the end of March. Active users mirrored this trend, increasing from 17K to a peak of 107K in mid-March.

Download video and HD Player experienced a relatively stable download pattern, starting the quarter at 25K and ending at 14K weekly downloads. The number of active users slightly decreased from 34K to 29K over the same period.

DramaBox - Stream Drama Shorts showed a remarkable increase in both downloads and active users. Weekly downloads surged from 14K at the beginning of January to a peak of 53K by mid-March. Concurrently, active users grew from 28K to 97K, reflecting the app’s growing popularity.
