During the first quarter of 2024, the top 5 entertainment apps on the Android platform in Ghana displayed varied performance in terms of downloads and active users. Data from Sensor Tower offers a detailed look at these trends.

StarTimes ON-Live TV, Football had an interesting quarter with fluctuating weekly downloads. The app peaked at 20.4K downloads in mid-January and saw another spike to 15.2K in mid-March. Weekly active users also showed a dynamic trend, starting at 16.9K in the first week of January, rising to 31.7K by mid-January, and closing the quarter at 24.2K.

MovieBox-Asian Drama, HD Movies maintained a relatively stable download rate in January, with weekly downloads ranging between 14.6K and 17.6K. However, there was a noticeable drop to 3.9K in the week of February 19. Despite this, the app’s active users were consistently strong, peaking at 43.3K in late February before slightly dropping to 34.9K by the end of March.

Netflix experienced a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting at 7.4K in early January and reaching 9.6K by the end of March. The app's weekly active users also showed a positive trend, growing from 576.3K at the beginning of the quarter to 621.2K in early March, before stabilizing around 599.4K.

Download video and HD Player saw a consistent climb in weekly downloads, starting at 7.4K in early January and peaking at 8.3K in mid-March. The weekly active users followed a similar upward trend, growing from 10.7K at the start of the quarter to 12.0K by mid-March.

Lastly, MyDStv Africa exhibited stable download rates throughout the quarter, with downloads fluctuating between 4.3K and 7.2K. The app’s active user base remained steady, beginning at 47.5K in early January and closing the quarter at 47.2K.
