Q4 2023 Performance of Top iOS Books Apps in the US

As the year 2023 came to a close, the US iOS platform witnessed varying performance trends among the top book applications. Data sourced from Sensor Tower provides an insightful look at how these apps fared in the fourth quarter.

Audible: Audio Entertainment saw a notable increase in revenue, ending the quarter with $3.8M in the last week of December, up from $3.1M at the start of the quarter. Downloads for Audible spiked to 148K in the final week of December, compared to around 113K at the beginning of the quarter. Weekly active users showed a slight decline, from 1.7M to 1.6M over the same period.

Amazon Kindle experienced moderate revenue growth, with its peak at $11K in the last week of December, increasing from $8K at the quarter's onset. Downloads surged impressively to 209K in the final week, a significant rise from 75K. The app's weekly active users also saw an uptick, finishing at 1.9M compared to 1.6M when the quarter began.

Libby, by OverDrive, which operates without revenue, had its downloads peak at 125K in the week of Christmas, a considerable increase from the 72K at the quarter's start. The app also concluded the quarter with an increase in active users, from 1.4M to 1.6M.

Goodreads: Book Reviews also operates without revenue but saw a substantial rise in downloads to 137K in the final week of December, up from 30K at the beginning of the quarter. Weekly active users for Goodreads increased notably from 391K to 516K over the quarter.

Lastly, Wattpad - Read & Write Stories showed a somewhat stable revenue pattern, ending the quarter with $83K, slightly down from $97K at the start. Downloads reached 42K in the last week, a jump from the 26K in the first week. Active users saw a positive trend, rising from 2.2M to 2.4M by the end of December.
