In the third quarter of 2023, Turkey's entertainment app market saw notable shifts in user engagement, downloads, and revenue. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top five entertainment apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.
WePlay (ويبلاي) - Game & Chat experienced a dramatic surge in both downloads and revenue towards the end of the quarter. Weekly downloads skyrocketed to approximately 718K by the last week of September, up from around 1.4K at the start of July. This impressive growth was mirrored in its weekly revenue, which peaked at about $22K in the final week of September, a substantial jump from the $639 seen at the end of June. Active user numbers also followed this trend, climbing to over 1.18M by the end of the quarter.
TikTok maintained a consistent presence in Turkey’s app market, with weekly downloads fluctuating between 366K and 652K. The app's revenue remained robust, ranging from approximately $229K to $271K weekly. Active users showed a slight decline, peaking at around 44.7M in mid-July before settling to about 39.8M by the end of September.
Netflix saw stable performance metrics throughout Q3. Weekly downloads hovered around 73K to 111K, while weekly revenue remained fairly steady, peaking at about $10K. Active users showed a minor decline, starting at around 3.3M at the end of June and decreasing to approximately 2.8M by the end of September.
YouTube Kids enjoyed a steady increase in downloads, reaching about 106K in the last week of August. Active users fluctuated slightly but generally hovered around the 570K mark by the end of the quarter.
Lastly, tabii experienced a gradual decline in downloads, with weekly figures dropping from 131K at the end of June to about 48K by the end of September. Active user numbers also saw a slight decrease, from approximately 686K at the end of June to around 566K by the end of September.
