In Q3 2022, the top entertainment apps on the Android platform in Kenya exhibited varied trends in weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Data sourced from Sensor Tower reveals the performance of the leading apps: Showmax 1.0, Amazon Prime Video, Beenovel — Reading Romance, Spark Fiction - Read & Enjoy, and Face Truth - Future Face Seer.

Showmax 1.0 experienced fluctuations in both downloads and revenue. Weekly downloads peaked at around 11K in early August before declining to approximately 6K by the end of September. Revenue showed a similar trend, peaking at $2.6K in early September and ending the quarter at $2.3K. Active users saw a dip from 201K at the end of June to around 168K by the end of September.

Amazon Prime Video demonstrated a steady download trend, with weekly downloads fluctuating between 2K and 3.8K. Revenue peaked at $489 in late July but saw a decline to $292 by mid-September, before rebounding to $428 at the end of the quarter. Active users remained relatively stable, ranging between 25K and 29K throughout the quarter.

Beenovel — Reading Romance saw modest download numbers, peaking at 281 in early July and ending the quarter at 197. Revenue was relatively low but showed a slight increase towards the end of the quarter, reaching $98 in mid-September.

Spark Fiction - Read & Enjoy had a gradual increase in downloads, peaking at 557 in the final week of September. Revenue also showed a notable increase, reaching $176 in the same period, marking a significant rise from the $108 observed at the end of June.

Face Truth - Future Face Seer experienced a peak in downloads at 3.2K in mid-July but saw a decline to around 2.5K by the end of September. Revenue fluctuated, peaking at $221 in late July but dropping to $3 by the end of September. Active users showed a general upward trend, rising from 4K at the end of June to nearly 9K by the end of September.
