In the first quarter of 2022, Nigeria's entertainment app market saw dynamic performance across the top 5 apps on a unified platform. Let's dive into the specifics for each app, based on Sensor Tower data.

TikTok, published by TikTok Ltd., exhibited impressive metrics. Weekly revenue started at approximately $28.5K and peaked at around $49.9K in late February. Downloads showed a significant drop from 459K in the last week of December to 162K by the end of March. Active users, however, remained relatively stable, hovering around 3.6M to 4M throughout the quarter.

Showmax, from Showmax s.r.o., had an interesting trajectory. After starting the year with zero revenue, it saw a gradual increase, reaching $465 by the end of March. Downloads spiked in late January to 259K, followed by a decline to 15.7K at the quarter's close. Active users peaked at 508K in late January and then declined to 271K by the end of March.

Netflix, a well-known platform from Netflix, Inc., showed consistent performance. Weekly revenue fluctuated between $400 and $643, with a peak in late February. Downloads remained steady, ranging from 34K to 44K. Active users saw a slight decrease from 712K at the start of the quarter to 628K at the end.

MyDStv Africa, by Multichoice Support Services, did not record any revenue. Downloads varied, starting at 10.7K and reaching a high of 33.6K by the end of March. Active users showed a positive trend, increasing from 175K to 228K over the quarter.

AVO TV, published by AVO TV Ltd., also reported no revenue. Downloads remained relatively stable, averaging around 14K weekly. Active users increased steadily from 93K at the beginning of January to 122K by the end of March.
