Top 5 Entertainment Apps in Hungary Q1 2022

The first quarter of 2022 saw significant activity in the entertainment app sector in Hungary. The top 5 apps, including Netflix, HBO Max: Stream TV & Movies, TikTok, HBO GO, and Talking Ben the Dog, displayed differing trends in their weekly downloads, revenue, and active users.

Netflix experienced fluctuations in weekly revenue, peaking at around $2.8K in early February. Weekly downloads saw a downward trend, starting from 16.4K in late December to about 8.9K by the end of March. Active users also saw a decline, from 352K to 283K throughout the quarter.

HBO Max: Stream TV & Movies showed a notable surge in weekly revenue, reaching $27.8K in early March before settling at $15.5K by the end of the month. Downloads followed a similar pattern, starting at 4.8K and peaking at 40.8K mid-March. Active users increased significantly from 3.5K to over 60.6K by the quarter's end.

TikTok maintained a strong weekly revenue stream, peaking at $54.4K in mid-March. Downloads remained steady, fluctuating between 17K and 20K throughout the quarter. Active users stayed robust, averaging around 2M weekly, with minor fluctuations.

HBO GO saw a sharp decline in revenue, with minimal gains peaking at $56 in early January. Downloads dropped significantly from 10.9K to just 418 by early March. Active users decreased from 128K to 53K by the end of the quarter.

Talking Ben the Dog saw a spike in weekly downloads mid-February, reaching 7.4K. Revenue peaked at $37 in early February. Active users increased from 2.2K in late January to nearly 10K by the end of March.
