In the first quarter of 2022, the top five entertainment apps in the United Kingdom—TikTok, Disney+, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and BBC iPlayer—exhibited distinct trends in downloads, revenue, and active users.

TikTok saw significant weekly revenue, starting at around $882K and peaking at about $1.1M in early February. However, there was a noticeable decline towards the end of March, dropping to approximately $808K. Weekly downloads began at 226K at the end of 2021, with a gradual decline to 164K by the end of March. Active users, on the other hand, showed a consistent upward trend, starting at 18.2M and reaching as high as 18.9M by the end of the quarter.

Disney+ experienced fluctuations in weekly revenue, starting at around $945K and seeing a peak of approximately $1.3M at the end of March. Downloads began at 171K and saw a decline, reaching a low of 87K in mid-March before ending the quarter at around 96K. Active users also showed a decrease initially but recovered towards the end of the quarter, finishing at about 3.6M.

Netflix maintained a steady weekly revenue, with values hovering around $245K to $325K throughout the quarter. Downloads showed a declining trend from 127K at the end of December to around 88K by the end of March. Active users saw a decrease from 7.9M at the beginning of the quarter to approximately 6.9M by the end of March.

Amazon Prime Video had a stable revenue performance, starting at $230K and peaking at about $268K by the end of February. Downloads started at 158K but saw a significant drop to around 57K by the end of March. Active users also trended downward, beginning at 2.6M and ending the quarter at around 1.8M.

BBC iPlayer had no revenue data, but its weekly downloads showed fluctuations, starting at 76K and peaking at 86K at the end of February before dropping to around 51K by the end of March. Active users started at 800K and saw a slight decline throughout the quarter, ending at approximately 674K.
