The first quarter of 2022 saw varying performance trends among the top 5 books applications in Europe on a unified platform, according to Sensor Tower data.

Wattpad - Read & Write Stories had a notable decrease in weekly downloads, starting from 237K in late December and dropping to 138K by the end of March. Despite this decline, the app's weekly revenue peaked at about $88K in the last week of February. The number of weekly active users also saw a decline, moving from approximately 9.1M to 8.2M over the quarter.

Audible: Audio Entertainment showed a steady increase in weekly revenue, reaching a high of around $363K in the final week of March. Weekly downloads, however, decreased from 208K at the end of December to 139K by the end of March. Weekly active users fluctuated slightly but ended the quarter at around 2.7M, similar to its starting point.

Amazon Kindle experienced a consistent decline in weekly downloads, beginning at 165K and falling to 84K by the end of March. Despite minimal revenue generation, the app maintained a steady number of weekly active users, starting at 2.1M and slightly decreasing to 1.9M by the end of the quarter.

Storytel - Audiobooks Library had a strong start with weekly revenue peaking at around $353K in late February. Weekly downloads saw a significant drop from 119K at the beginning of January to 60K by the end of March. Weekly active users decreased steadily from 1.5M to 1.4M throughout the quarter.

Litres: Books and audiobooks showed varying trends with weekly revenue peaking at approximately $250K in mid-January and ending March around $191K. Weekly downloads fluctuated, peaking at 118K in early January before falling to 77K by the end of March. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, starting from 799K and ending the quarter at around 735K.
