Top 5 Entertainment Apps on Android in New Zealand Q1 2022

The first quarter of 2022 saw diverse performance trends among the top five entertainment apps on the Android platform in New Zealand. Data from Sensor Tower provides a comprehensive look at weekly downloads, revenue, and active user metrics for these popular apps.

Disney+ experienced a notable decline in both revenue and downloads throughout the quarter. Revenue peaked at around $77K in the first week of January and gradually decreased to approximately $41K by the end of March. Weekly downloads also saw a downward trend, starting at 7.6K in late December and dropping to 5.8K by the end of March. Active users fluctuated, beginning at around 204K and ending the quarter at 180K.

Amazon Prime Video showed a more stable performance. Revenue remained relatively consistent, ranging from approximately $1.3K to $1.9K throughout the quarter. Downloads peaked at 3.7K in late January, while active users hovered around the 35K to 39K mark, ending the quarter with 37K active users.

TVNZ+ maintained a steady download rate, with peaks in mid-January and late March, reaching about 3.6K downloads. Active users also showed a slight increase, beginning at 11.9K and peaking at 12.7K in mid-March.

Netflix saw a stable number of downloads, fluctuating between 2.2K and 3.8K throughout the quarter. Active users showed a slight decline from 407K at the end of December to around 351K by the end of March.

Talking Ben the Dog experienced a significant increase in downloads, peaking at 4.3K in mid-February. Active users also saw a sharp rise, starting at 809 in late December and reaching approximately 6.7K by the end of March.
