In the first quarter of 2021, Australia's book enthusiasts continued to engage with their favorite reading and audio entertainment applications. Data from Sensor Tower provides insights into the performance of the top 5 book applications on the unified platform, which includes both iOS and Android data.

Audible: Audio Entertainment witnessed a fluctuating trend in revenue, peaking at $1.98M in mid-March. Downloads for Audible began at 21K in the last week of December 2020 and saw an increase, reaching a high of around 25K in late February before tapering off to 16K by the end of March. Weekly active users started strong at 273K and soared to over 307K in late February, eventually stabilizing at around 291K.

Wattpad - Read & Write Stories showed a strong revenue trend, starting at $11K and reaching a peak of over $13K towards the end of February. The app's downloads saw an initial increase from 7K to 7.7K in early January but gradually declined to 4.8K by the end of the quarter. Wattpad's active users displayed a steady upward trend, growing from 225K to 332K over the three-month period.

Amazon Kindle, with no reported revenue, had downloads starting at approximately 9K and decreasing to 5.7K by March. The active user base for Kindle showed some variability but mostly hovered around 96K to 94K during the quarter.

Libby, by OverDrive also reported no revenue. Downloads for Libby saw a significant spike, doubling from 2.8K to 6.6K in late February, but fell to 3.6K by the end of March. The weekly active users experienced a slight decline from 29K at the start of the quarter to around 24K.

BorrowBox Library, another app without reported revenue, began with downloads at 2.9K, peaked at 3.9K in mid-January, and settled at 2.5K by the close of the quarter. The active user count for BorrowBox remained relatively stable, maintaining a range from 25K to 23K throughout the period.
