In the first quarter of 2021, notable iOS book apps have shown varying trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Sensor Tower provides a detailed look at how these apps performed in the United States.

Audible: Audio Entertainment, the audiobook and podcast service, experienced an upward trend in revenue, starting at $829K and peaking at $1.58M in the final week of March. Downloads began at 125K in late December and saw a high of 149K in mid-January before settling to 104K by the end of March. Weekly active users peaked at 1.71M in late December, with a slight decline over the quarter to 1.56M by the end of March.

Amazon Kindle, the e-reading platform, had no reported revenue until the last week of March, with a modest $180. Its downloads started strong at 121K and saw a peak of 134K in the second week of January, then gradually declined to 77K by the end of March. The app's weekly active users exhibited a downward trend from 1.81M at the start of the period to 1.59M by the end.

Wattpad - Read & Write Stories showed consistent revenue, hovering around $100K to $135K per week. Downloads for Wattpad started at 107K, reaching a low of 61K in early March, but slightly recovering to 71K by the end of the quarter. The app's active users saw a significant increase from 2.82M to a high of 4.93M in the last week of March.

Libby, by OverDrive, a digital library app, did not generate revenue but had downloads starting at 48K and ending at 28K. The number of weekly active users for Libby was relatively stable, beginning at 716K and ending the quarter at 681K.

Lastly, Yarn - Chat & Text Stories saw its revenue fluctuate, starting at $63K and ending at $46K. Downloads peaked at 47K in early February, followed by a sharp dip to 7K later in the month, and a slight recovery to 18K by the end of March. Active users for Yarn declined from 45K to 29K over the quarter.
