UK's Top 5 iOS Book Apps in Q1 2021: A Sensor Tower Analysis

In the first quarter of 2021, the UK's iOS platform saw significant activity among the top book applications. Sensor Tower provides a detailed look at the performance of these apps, with insights that can be further explored on their platform.

Amazon Kindle, despite generating no revenue, demonstrated a steady stream of downloads starting at approximately 22K in the last week of December and seeing a peak of nearly 25K in mid-January. The app's weekly active users showed a declining trend from 209K at the end of December to 166K by the end of March.

Audible: Audio Entertainment showed a more positive revenue trend with a notable increase from around $1.8K to $2.8K by the end of the quarter. Downloads began at around 22K and dipped to nearly 13K by March, while weekly active users increased from 291K to 295K, later declining to 278K.

Wattpad - Read & Write Stories had a strong revenue presence, ranging from $13K to $19K. Downloads saw a high of 20K in late December, with a drop to 15K by the end of March. However, the app's weekly active users grew impressively from 442K to a staggering 694K in the same period.

Goodreads: Book Reviews did not generate revenue but maintained a consistent user base. Downloads started at 10K and saw a decline to approximately 4K, while active users fluctuated marginally around the 60K mark throughout the quarter.

Libby, by OverDrive also reported no revenue. However, downloads for Libby showed an upward trajectory from 1.6K to over 6K, while weekly active users remained relatively stable, starting at around 15K and ending the quarter with a slight decrease to 15.3K.
