Q1 2021 Performance of Top iOS Book Apps in Australia

In the first quarter of 2021, the iOS book application landscape in Australia saw varying trends in downloads and user engagement. Data provided by Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into the performance of the top 5 book apps during this period.

Audible: Audio Entertainment maintained a strong presence with its revenue peaking at nearly $1.9M in the last week of March. Downloads started at 9K in the last week of December and saw a slight decrease to 6.8K by the end of March. Weekly active users fluctuated, starting at 121K and reaching up to 130K in the first week of January, before settling around 130K towards the end of March.

Wattpad - Read & Write Stories experienced a revenue high of $10.9K in late February. Downloads dipped from 5.6K in December to 3.8K by March's end. However, weekly active users showed an impressive increase from 190K to 287K, indicating a growing engagement despite the drop in new downloads.

Amazon Kindle, without revenue data, showed a decrease in downloads from 5.2K to 3.4K over the quarter. Active users started at 55K and had a slight decrease to 50K, suggesting a stable user base.

Libby, by OverDrive also did not report any revenue. Downloads, however, saw a peak of 3.4K in late February before falling to 2K by March's end. Active users saw a modest decline from 17K to 14K.

BorrowBox Library showed a similar trend with downloads starting at 2K in December, peaking at 2.3K in January, and then decreasing to 1.5K by the close of March. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, ranging from 16K to 15K.
