European Android Market: Music/Rhythm Apps Q1 2021 Overview

The first quarter of 2021 has been an interesting period for Music/Rhythm applications on the Android platform in Europe. Data provided by Sensor Tower reveals how the top apps in this category have performed in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.

Just Dance Now, published by Ubisoft Entertainment, saw a steady revenue stream throughout the quarter, with revenues peaking at around $17K in the first week and declining to about $11K towards the end of March. The app experienced a spike in downloads to 35K at the beginning of the year, which gradually decreased to 23K by the end of Q1. Weekly active users started at 74K and saw a rise to 56K, suggesting a resilient user base.

Love Live! All Stars by Bushiroad International Pte Ltd_ generated revenues that fluctuated, starting at nearly $10K and reaching up to $15K in early March. The application had a marginal download count, with a peak of 215 in mid-February, but generally maintained a low download rate. Active user counts remained fairly consistent, ranging from 1.6K to 1.8K throughout the quarter.

UniuGame's Sweet Dance-RU observed revenues starting at around $16K and dipping to $11K by the end of March. Downloads showed an upward trend, with an impressive jump from 5K to over 21K in early March. Weekly active users for the app also increased, starting at 38K and reaching a high of 50K in the same period.

The German counterpart, Sweet Dance-DE, demonstrated similar revenue trends, with an initial $8K falling to $6K and then spiking at $9K in the last week of March. Downloads began at 11K, peaked at 14K in the first week of January, and then showed a decrease to around 6K towards the end of Q1.

Magic Tiles 3, developed by AMANOTES PTE LTD, showed a diverse pattern, with revenues starting at $3K, peaking at $6.5K, and maintaining a steady performance. The game enjoyed massive download numbers, kicking off with 482K and maintaining above 350K towards the end of the quarter. The weekly active users for Magic Tiles 3 were impressive, starting at 2.9M and growing to nearly 2.8M by the end of March.
