As the year 2022 wrapped up, the arcade racing genre continued to entertain speed enthusiasts on mobile platforms. Sensor Tower's analysis of the top arcade racing apps in the United States during Q4 2022 reveals interesting trends in user behavior and app performance.
Pocket Champs: 3D Racing Games by MADBOX saw a decrease in revenue from around $136k at the end of September to approximately $96k by the year's end. Downloads for the game also dipped from around 91k to approximately 57k, while weekly active users showed a slight recovery from around 220k to 205k in the final weeks of the quarter.
Need for Speed No Limits, published by Electronic Arts, experienced a revenue increase from around $91k to approximately $120k. The game's downloads saw an upward trend, starting from about 26k to nearly 48k, and weekly active users also grew from around 154k to approximately 191k.
Turning our attention to Asphalt 9: Legends by Gameloft, the game's revenue fluctuated, peaking at around $123k mid-December. Downloads increased from about 53k to 88k, and the weekly active users rose significantly from around 164k to nearly 197k by the end of December.
The newcomer CarX Street, from CarX Technologies, showed a strong start with revenue peaking at around $148k in its first full week post-release.
