Q1 2023 Performance of Top Music and Podcasts Apps on Android in Europe

The first quarter of 2023 has seen an interesting trend among the top Music and Podcasts applications on Android in Europe. Data provided by Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into the performance of these leading apps.

Spotify: Music and Podcasts, a product of Spotify AB from Sweden, showed a significant revenue increase over the quarter, starting around $37k and reaching approximately $333k by the end of March. Downloads remained relatively steady, beginning at around 383k and experiencing a slight dip to approximately 310k. Weekly active users showed a consistent trend, starting with around 62 million and peaking at nearly 64 million before a slight drop to around 64 million by the quarter's end.

Shazam: Music Discovery, despite not generating revenue during this period, maintained a solid user base with downloads starting at around 342k and ending the quarter at approximately 303k. Weekly active users saw a slight decrease, beginning at around 12 million and settling at about 11 million.

Music Player & MP3 Player by InShot Inc. from China also saw modest revenue, starting at $733 and rising to $935 by March. Downloads saw an increase from around 119k to approximately 122k. Weekly active users experienced a slight decline, from around 5.3 million in late December to about 5.1 million by the end of March.

Lastly, Apple Music saw its revenue beginning at around $58k and rising to approximately $70k. Downloads experienced a slight fluctuation, starting at around 107k and ending at nearly 108k. Weekly active users witnessed a small increase from just over 1 million to around 1.1 million.
