The first quarter of 2023 has been eventful for the Film & Television category on the iOS platform in the United States. Sensor Tower has compiled data that provides a snapshot of how leading streaming applications have fared during this period.
Netflix, a dominant player in the streaming space, experienced a fluctuating revenue trend with a peak of around $2.5 million in late February. Downloads for Netflix started at around 448k in late December and saw a gradual decrease to approximately 301k by the end of March. The weekly active users for Netflix also showed a declining trend, starting at around 19 million at the end of December and dropping to around 16.6 million by the end of March.
Peacock TV: Stream TV & Movies also saw variable revenue, with a high point of over $3 million in the weeks of late January and late February. Downloads for Peacock TV initiated at around 440k in late December, with a notable spike to over 380k in late January before settling at approximately 327k in the last week of March. The app's active users saw a decrease from roughly 2.5 million in late December to about 2.2 million by the end of March.
HBO Max: Stream TV & Movies stood out with its revenue, peaking at nearly $6.5 million in late February. Downloads began at around 311k in late December, with fluctuations leading to a drop to approximately 203k by the end of March. Weekly active users started at nearly 3.9 million and experienced a decline, ending at around 3.7 million in late March.
Disney+ showed strong revenue numbers, starting at nearly $6 million in late December and reaching a high of over $5 million by late February. Downloads for Disney+ began at around 366k, with a dip to about 224k by the end of March. The weekly active users count started at over 5.2 million, with a slight increase to nearly 4.9 million by the end of the quarter.
Paramount+ had consistent revenue, starting at nearly $3 million and maintaining a similar level throughout the quarter. Downloads for Paramount+ saw a peak at around 368k in late January, but by the end of March, they had decreased to roughly 174k. The weekly active users for Paramount+ also experienced a decrease, starting at around 1.3 million and reducing to about 1.2 million by the end of March.
