In the first quarter of 2023, the wellness app category has seen varying performances among its top contenders on the iOS platform in the United States. These insights, provided by Sensor Tower, offer a glimpse into user engagement and the financial success of these applications.

Calm has maintained a strong presence with its revenue peaking at around $1.2 million in the second week of January and then stabilizing around the $1 million mark towards the end of March. Downloads for Calm saw a high of around 111k in early January, followed by a gradual decline to approximately 78k in early March, before rising again to over 100k towards the end of the month. Weekly active users showed a slight dip from around 1.2 million at the start of January to approximately 1.1 million at the end of March.

Headspace: Sleep & Meditation experienced its highest revenue in mid-January at over $650k, with a general downward trend, reaching around $435k by the end of March. Downloads spiked at around 54k in the first week of January but gradually decreased to roughly 25k by the end of March. The app's weekly active users peaked at over 525k in early January and had a slight decrease to about 464k by the last week of March.

ShutEye®: Sleep Tracker, Sound showed an upward trend in revenue, starting at around $130k in late December and climbing to over $220k by the end of March. Downloads for ShutEye® peaked at over 100k in late February, with a notable increase in weekly active users from around 71k at the end of December to over 143k by the end of March.

Waking Up: Meditation & Wisdom saw its revenue fluctuate, with a high of around $290k in early January, dipping to around $145k by late March. Downloads for Waking Up remained modest, starting at around 4.5k in late December and maintaining a consistent range of 4k to 6k throughout the quarter. Weekly active users for the app remained relatively stable, with a slight drop from around 32k in early January to approximately 25k by the end of March.

Reframe: Drink Less & Thrive had a notable revenue peak at around $250k in late February, with a decrease to about $145k by the end of March. Downloads reached their highest at around 39k in early January, followed by a decrease to roughly 10k by the end of March. Weekly active users saw a slight decline from around 82k at the start of the year to about 68k at the quarter's close.
