The Full Gaming Revenue Picture: PC and Console Add-on Spend
Read about the exciting new additions to the Video Game Insights (VGI) platform, including visibility into console add-on spend — creating a holistic view of gaming monetization.

Video Game Insights by Sensor Tower (VGI) is proud to announce that we have released add-on spend metrics for consoles (PlayStation & Xbox). Alongside VGI’s existing capability to provide PC add-on spend metrics, the introduction of console add-on spend metrics now completes the full, cross-platform revenue picture. For the first time, users will be able to break out console add-on spend in a variety of different tools within VGI.
Why does this matter?
If you’re trying to fully understand how a game actually earns money, you’ve had to piece the picture together yourself – and usually from just one side of it. Especially for major cross-platform titles, PC add-on spend alone doesn’t paint the full picture.
Whether it's game design, publishing, or investing – the question of a game's ability to monetize has moved to the forefront, often steering these strategic decisions. As more titles live on both PC and console, and lean harder into add-on monetization alongside premium revenue, the console blindspot has only widened. Development, due diligence, and pricing decisions get made on an incomplete picture – and the titles most exposed are exactly the ones where add-on spend is doing the most work.
This is where VGI closes the gap – for the first time, in one place. With console add-on spend now available alongside our existing PC coverage, you get premium revenue and add-on spend for the same title, across both platforms. The full picture, together.

Analyze revenue mixes: Track how a title's revenue mix shifts over time, from premium sales toward add-on spend, or the reverse, to spot monetization pivots as they happen.

Optimize pricing: Benchmark pricing and packaging decisions against comparable titles' performance before launching your new titles.
Track live service events & offers: Monitor when live service titles launch new seasons, battlepasses, or DLC, so you can measure their revenue impact.
