In the third quarter of 2025, the top auto applications on the Android platform in the United States exhibited varied performance in terms of downloads and active users. Here's a closer look at their performance metrics as tracked by Sensor Tower.

Autotrader: Shop Cars For Sale saw its weekly downloads peak at around 36.7K in late July, following a trend of steady increases earlier in the month. Its active users, however, experienced a decline from 224K at the beginning of the quarter to approximately 188K by the end of September.

CARFAX - New & Used Cars recorded a peak in downloads of about 31.3K in early September. Active users fluctuated slightly, starting at 174K and ending the quarter at 169K, showing some recovery towards the end.

CarGurus: Used & New Cars experienced a significant rise in downloads, reaching approximately 31.3K in the second week of September. The app's active users showed a slight downward trend, closing the quarter at around 318K from a high of 446K in mid-July.

Cars.com: Buy and sell cars demonstrated an increase in downloads towards the quarter's end, peaking at 23.4K in the final week of September. Active users saw a dip mid-quarter but rebounded to reach approximately 376K by the end.

Finally, Exxon Mobil Rewards+ had its downloads peak at 21K in early August before experiencing a decline to about 7.6K by the end of September. Active users followed a similar pattern, starting the quarter at 95K and ending at around 56K.
