In the second quarter of 2025, the top news applications in South America displayed varied performance metrics across weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Here's a closer look at each app's performance based on data from Sensor Tower.

X from X Corp. saw a gradual decline in weekly revenue, starting at approximately $74.7K and ending the quarter at around $55.8K. Weekly downloads were robust, peaking at 293.6K at the start of the quarter, but showed a slight decrease towards the end with 217.8K. Active users remained strong, with numbers fluctuating slightly, beginning at 36M and closing at 33.6M.

Reddit experienced relatively stable revenue figures, hovering between $400 to $500 weekly, with a notable spike to $531 at the end of June. Downloads initially surged to 112.8K, then tapered off, with a low of 51.3K in the week of May 26. Active users remained consistent, ranging from 3.3M to 3.5M throughout the quarter.

Substack showed a modest revenue pattern, mostly under $100 weekly. Download figures saw a significant peak at 18.7K in mid-May, followed by a steady performance around 13K towards the end of the quarter. Active users increased from 124.9K to 140.4K, showing growth in user engagement.

PortalParaguay had no revenue data but showed fluctuating download numbers, with a peak of 15.6K in mid-April and closing at 10.7K. Active user numbers remained low and stable, slightly decreasing from 165 to 148.

Google News did not generate revenue but maintained steady download numbers, averaging around 4K weekly. Active users showed a slight decline from 1.15M to about 1.04M by the end of June.
