In the second quarter of 2025, the top five news applications in Oceania showed varied performance across downloads, revenue, and active users. This analysis, based on Sensor Tower data, provides insights into their trends.

Reddit saw its weekly revenue fluctuate, peaking at approximately $3.4K by the end of June. Downloads peaked early in April at about 27.7K, with a steady pattern throughout the quarter. Active users remained robust, averaging around 1.5M, with minor fluctuations.

X experienced a downward trend in weekly revenue, closing at about $46.7K. Downloads showed a similar decline, starting at 18.4K in March and dropping to 11.4K by June's end. Active users decreased steadily from 2.08M to 1.78M.

Substack maintained modest revenue, peaking at $281 in mid-May. Downloads remained relatively stable, ranging from 7K to 9K. Active users showed a slight increase, reaching around 163K by the quarter's end.

ABC News reported no revenue during this period. Downloads spiked in late April at 7.2K, while active users saw a notable increase, peaking at 986K in late April, before stabilizing around 951K.

7NEWS Australia also recorded no revenue. Weekly downloads were consistent, peaking at 5.4K in late April. Active users grew steadily, reaching 68.5K by the end of June.
