In the second quarter of 2025, the utilities category on iOS in New Zealand showcased notable trends among the top-performing apps. This analysis, based on data from Sensor Tower, reveals the weekly download patterns and active user counts for these leading apps.

Google maintained a consistent presence with weekly downloads starting at over 4K, peaking towards the end of the quarter at nearly 5K. The app's weekly active users showed a gradual increase from 259K to 273K, reflecting sustained user engagement.

NZTA Waka Kotahi experienced fluctuations in downloads, beginning the quarter with around 2.8K and ending with just over 2K. Despite these variations, the app did not generate any revenue during this period.

Google Chrome saw its downloads hover between 2.1K and 2.8K, with a noticeable increase at the end of June. The app's active user base remained robust, growing steadily to reach over 366K by the quarter's close.

Google Authenticator displayed a rising trend in weekly downloads, starting at 2K and climbing to over 3K. The active user count also increased significantly from 51K to over 60K, indicating enhanced user interaction.

Lastly, UK ETA experienced a decline in downloads from 2.2K to around 1.5K. However, its active users consistently grew, ending the quarter at over 7K.
