In the first quarter of 2025, the top five news applications in Nigeria demonstrated varied performance across downloads, revenue, and active user metrics. Sensor Tower's insights reveal interesting trends for these popular apps.

X saw weekly revenue fluctuate, reaching approximately $25.8K at the start of January and ending the quarter around $21.9K. Downloads peaked initially at 61.9K in early January, then stabilized around 55K by the end of March. Active users displayed a slight upward trend, closing the quarter at roughly 9.1M.

The Economist - News, Podcasts experienced a modest rise in revenue, with a peak of $784 in late February. Downloads remained low, with a slight increase to 79 by the end of March. Active users hovered around 500, showing little fluctuation.

Bloomberg: Business News Daily had a steady revenue increase, peaking at $720 in February. Downloads were stable, averaging around 350 weekly, while active users grew slightly to 1.2K by the quarter's end.

Medium: Read & Write Stories saw a decline in revenue from $3.2K at the beginning of January to about $649 by March's close. Downloads decreased to 2.3K mid-quarter but rebounded to 2.6K at the end. Active users showed a positive trend, increasing to 78.4K by March.

The Wall Street Journal. News maintained stable revenue, hovering around $100 to $145 throughout the quarter. Downloads were consistent, with a slight uptick to 92 at the end of March. Active users fluctuated slightly, ending the quarter with 341.
