In the first quarter of 2025, the lifestyle app sector in South Africa showcased varied performance metrics across its top five applications. Based on data from Sensor Tower, we can observe trends in downloads and active users for these leading apps.

Pinterest saw a gradual decline in weekly downloads, starting at around 38K and tapering to approximately 33K by the end of March. However, its weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 1.8M and 1.9M.

Samsung Wallet/Pay (Watch) experienced consistent weekly downloads, peaking at about 15.4K in early March. The app maintained a strong user base, with active users reaching over 3.2M mid-quarter before settling at just over 3M.

Payflex showed a remarkable increase in downloads, growing from approximately 9.9K at the start of the quarter to a substantial 32.3K by the end. Active users, however, experienced a slight decrease from around 102K to under 97K.

BookStep saw a drop in both downloads and active users. Downloads fell from 30.6K to 17.2K, while active users decreased from over 47K to about 25K by the quarter's end.

Finally, Property24 experienced a downward trend in downloads, starting at 10.3K and ending at 7.2K. Active users showed slight fluctuations, maintaining a range between 256K and 296K.
