In the first quarter of 2025, the top news applications on the iOS platform in the Netherlands displayed varied performance metrics. Data sourced from Sensor Tower reveals intriguing insights into their weekly downloads, revenue, and active user trends.

X from X Corp. saw an impressive peak in weekly revenue, reaching approximately $18.7K by the end of February. The app's weekly downloads experienced fluctuations, with a notable rise to 7.1K during the week of March 24. Active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 480K throughout the quarter.

AD - Nieuws, Sport & Regio maintained consistent weekly revenue, peaking at $15.9K in late February. Despite a decline in downloads, starting from 1.3K at the beginning of January to 560 by the end of March, active users showed a steady presence, averaging about 230K.

de Volkskrant - Nieuws recorded a steady increase in revenue, hitting $11.3K in the last week of February. Downloads remained modest, averaging around 500 weekly, while active user numbers saw a rise, reaching 91.9K by the end of March.

The Guardian - Live World News experienced variable revenue, with a peak of $9.9K in early January. Downloads remained low, with slight increases, while active users grew steadily, starting at 5.4K and reaching 7.9K by the end of March.

NYTimes: US and Global News saw a significant spike in downloads, notably reaching 27.3K in the week of March 10. Revenue also showed a positive trend, peaking at $7.5K in late February. Active users demonstrated a substantial increase, rising from 6.5K at the start of the quarter to 21.9K by the end.
