Top Books Apps Performance on Unified Platform in the US Q4 2024

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the top five books applications on a unified platform in the United States showed interesting trends in downloads, revenue, and active user engagement. This analysis is derived from Sensor Tower's data.

Audible: Audiobooks & Podcasts displayed a robust performance with weekly revenues peaking at around $10.2M in early December and maintaining a strong finish with $10.1M at the end of the month. Downloads saw a significant rise towards the end of the quarter, reaching approximately 199K. Active users fluctuated slightly but ended the year strongly at over 21M.

Libby, the library app experienced a notable increase in weekly downloads, particularly towards the end of December, rising to 177K. The app also saw a healthy growth in active users, surpassing 10M by the end of the quarter.

Amazon Kindle showed a remarkable uptick in revenue, especially in December, culminating in $112K. Downloads spiked significantly during the holiday season, peaking at 222K, while active users increased steadily to about 9.7M.

Goodreads: Book Reviews did not generate revenue but saw a dramatic rise in downloads, reaching 308K in the final week of December. Active users also rose substantially, climbing to 5.5M by the end of the quarter.

Finally, Hoopla Digital maintained a steady download rate throughout most of the quarter, with a notable increase in late December to 68K. Active users remained stable, ending the quarter at nearly 2M.
