Top 5 News Apps on iOS in Norway: Q4 2024 Performance

In the fourth quarter of 2024, several news applications on the iOS platform in Norway showcased varying performance trends in terms of downloads, revenue, and active users. This analysis, based on data from Sensor Tower, highlights the key metrics for the top five apps.

VG from Schibsted Media AS saw a gradual decrease in weekly revenue from approximately $91K at the start of October to about $54K by the end of December. Weekly downloads started at around 4.1K, declining to just over 850 by the end of the quarter. Despite these declines, weekly active users increased from about 40K to 50K mid-quarter before tapering off to 42K by December.

Dagbladet Nyheter experienced relatively stable weekly revenue, hovering between $12K and $15K throughout the quarter. Downloads remained consistent, ranging from 300 to 450 weekly, while active users maintained a steady presence around 12K.

X from X Corp. exhibited a notable peak in revenue, reaching $14K in late November, before stabilizing around $4K by December. Downloads peaked at 1.9K in early November, with active users fluctuating around the 100K mark throughout the quarter.

The Economist - News, Podcasts showed a significant rise in revenue, peaking at $5.5K in mid-November. Downloads were modest, averaging around 200 weekly, while active users slightly decreased from 600 to 580 by the end of December.

Finally, NYTimes: US and Global News from The New York Times Company saw weekly revenue increase to approximately $3.7K at year-end. Downloads remained low, with a peak of 656 in early November, and active users showed a slight upward trend from 1.8K to 2K.
