In the fourth quarter of 2024, several top-performing books apps on iOS in the United States showcased interesting trends in downloads, revenue, and active users, as reported by Sensor Tower.

Audible: Audiobooks & Podcasts saw its weekly revenue fluctuate, peaking around $9.7M in early November. Downloads increased towards the end of the quarter, reaching 137.7K by the last week of December. Meanwhile, active users showed a slight increase, ending the quarter at approximately 13.9M.

Libby, the library app experienced a significant boost in downloads in late December, climbing to 137K. Active users consistently rose throughout the quarter, culminating at about 7.4M.

Amazon Kindle had a notable spike in downloads during the week of December 23, reaching 180.8K, while active users grew steadily, ending at around 7.3M. Revenue, however, saw a decline, with the lowest point at $644 in the final week.

Goodreads: Book Reviews experienced a dramatic increase in downloads, peaking at 254.2K in the last week of December. Active users also rose significantly, reaching approximately 4.2M by the end of the quarter.

Finally, Hoopla Digital showed a modest increase in downloads towards the end of December, with a peak of 47.6K. Active users remained relatively stable, closing the quarter at around 1.3M.
