In the third quarter of 2024, the travel app market in Mexico saw notable trends across the top five applications on a unified platform, according to data from Sensor Tower.
DiDi Rider: Affordable rides experienced a significant increase in weekly downloads, starting at approximately 169K in early July and peaking at around 214K by mid-September. Concurrently, its weekly active users fluctuated, beginning at roughly 5.4M, dipping in mid-July, and then climbing to nearly 5.9M by late September.
Uber - Request a ride maintained a consistent download rate, with numbers ranging from 145K to a peak of about 185K in early September. The app's active user base showed a gradual increase, starting at 5M and reaching approximately 5.5M at the quarter's end.
Airbnb saw an initial spike in downloads, peaking at over 105K in mid-July, followed by a decline to around 64K by late September. In contrast, its active user numbers increased steadily from around 403K to approximately 452K over the quarter.
