In the third quarter of 2024, the travel app market in Belgium saw interesting trends across the top five applications, as reported by Sensor Tower. These apps—each offering unique travel-related services—exhibited varied patterns in weekly downloads and active users on a unified platform, which includes both iOS and Android.

SNCB/NMBS: Timetable & tickets from NMBS / SNCB showed a general upward trend in weekly downloads, starting with approximately 11.5K in early July and peaking at around 22.8K by mid-September. This increase in downloads was mirrored by a steady growth in weekly active users, ascending from about 234K at the beginning of the quarter to over 271K by the end of September.

Booking.com: Hotels & Travel experienced a decline in weekly downloads throughout the quarter. Starting at 17.3K downloads in the first week of July, the numbers dropped to roughly 7.2K by the last week of September. Despite the decrease in downloads, weekly active users remained relatively high, although they did decrease from 437K to 371K over the same period.

Polarsteps - Travel Tracker displayed fluctuating download numbers, peaking at 17.8K in early September before settling at around 8.6K by the end of the quarter. Weekly active users for Polarsteps followed a similar pattern, increasing to a high of 83K in mid-September before tapering off to approximately 68K.

Uber - Request a ride maintained consistent weekly download figures, hovering around 9K for most of the quarter, with a slight peak at 11.8K in early September. Active user counts showed a gradual increase, rising from 195K in early July to just under 200K by the end of September.

Airbnb experienced a decline in both downloads and active users over the quarter. Weekly downloads decreased from 12.8K at the start of July to 5.3K by the end of September. Similarly, active users dropped from 141K to 117K during the same timeframe.
