During the third quarter of 2024, the top five news applications in Nigeria displayed varying performance trends in terms of downloads, revenue, and active users. Here's a closer look at each app's performance based on data from Sensor Tower.

X from X Corp. showed a notable increase in weekly revenue, peaking at about $16.3K towards the end of August. The app's weekly downloads fluctuated, reaching a high of 99K in late August, while weekly active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 2.6M throughout the quarter.

Reddit experienced modest weekly revenue, with a minor peak of $15 in early September. Weekly downloads saw significant growth, particularly in the week of September 9, hitting 37.4K. Active users remained consistent, averaging around 85K over the quarter.

Quora did not generate any revenue during this period. However, the app's downloads remained steady, with figures fluctuating between 8K and 10K. The number of active users showed a declining trend, dropping from 75K at the start of the quarter to around 70K by the end.

Opera News: Breaking & Local also reported no revenue. Downloads peaked at 16K in late July, followed by a gradual decline. Active users saw some fluctuations, with a high of 463K in early September before stabilizing around 430K.

Chatter Social had a modest start in downloads, peaking at 3.7K in the second week of July, followed by a sharp decline. There was no data available on active users for this app, and it did not generate any revenue.
