In the third quarter of 2024, the top navigation apps in Europe exhibited notable trends in downloads and active user engagement, as reported by Sensor Tower.
Google Maps maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads peaking at around 866K in mid-July, before slowly declining to 646K by the end of September. The app's active users remained robust, starting at 77.3M and fluctuating slightly, ending the quarter at approximately 74.4M.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic saw a peak in weekly downloads of 693K in mid-August, which then decreased to 410K by the end of September. Active user numbers for Waze began at 18.6M and showed some fluctuation, closing the quarter at around 18M.
For Moovit: All Transit Options, weekly downloads increased from 289K at the start of July to a high of 341K in early September, before settling at 294K by the end of the quarter. Weekly active users followed a similar upward trend, starting at 3M and reaching a peak of over 3.3M by quarter-end. Moovit also experienced a steady increase in weekly revenue, starting at $25.5K and reaching approximately $38.5K by the end of September.
Yandex Maps & Navigator had a steady decline in weekly downloads from 268K to 185K over the quarter. However, active users grew from 15.8M to 16M. Revenue fluctuated slightly, beginning at $1.5K and ending at $2.3K.
Finally, 2GIS: Offline Map & Navigation showed a gradual decline in weekly downloads from 198K to 178K. Active users, on the other hand, increased from 5.3M to 5.7M by the end of the quarter.
