Top 5 iOS Finance Apps in South Africa: Q3 2024 Performance

In the third quarter of 2024, South Africa's top finance apps on the iOS platform showcased varying trends in downloads and active user engagement. These insights, sourced from Sensor Tower, highlight the performance of the leading apps in the finance category.

Capitec Bank demonstrated a consistent increase in its weekly downloads, starting at around 17K in early July and climbing steadily to over 21K by the end of September. Its active user base also showed a positive trend, beginning at approximately 337K and reaching nearly 376K by the quarter's close.

The SARS Mobile eFiling app experienced a decline in weekly downloads, from about 41K in early July to just over 3K by the end of September. Active users followed a similar trajectory, starting at 67K and decreasing to roughly 29K.

For the FNB Banking App, weekly downloads remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 5.6K and 6.9K throughout the quarter. However, active users saw a gradual decline from approximately 280K in early July to about 259K by the end of September.

PayJustNow experienced an interesting spike in downloads, with numbers starting at 5.5K, peaking at nearly 10K in early August, and then stabilizing around 5.2K by the end of the quarter. Unfortunately, data on active users for this app was not available.

Lastly, TymeBank witnessed a gradual increase in both downloads and active users. Weekly downloads rose from about 6K to almost 6K, while active users grew from 115K to over 124K by the end of September.
