During the third quarter of 2024, the shopping app landscape in Qatar on the Android platform showcased interesting trends. According to data from Sensor Tower, the top five shopping apps displayed varied performance in terms of downloads and active user engagement.
Temu: Shop Like a Billionaire maintained a strong presence in the market, with weekly downloads starting at around 29K at the beginning of July and gradually declining to approximately 10K by the end of September. The app's weekly active users showed a slight downward trend, beginning the quarter with over 100K and finishing at about 94K.
SHEIN-Shopping Online experienced a noticeable decline in downloads, starting with approximately 5.6K in early July and dropping to around 2.5K by the end of September. Despite the decrease in downloads, weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating around 90K throughout the quarter.
Alibaba.com - B2B marketplace saw a reduction in downloads from about 4.9K in early July to just over 2K by the end of September. Active user numbers also showed a gradual decline from around 84K to 71K during the same period.
MAF Carrefour Online Shopping recorded a drop in downloads from nearly 4K in July to approximately 1.9K by the end of September. However, the app's active user base demonstrated more resilience, with numbers starting at 32K and ending the quarter at approximately 27K.
Lastly, Lulu Shopping experienced a decline in downloads, from around 3.2K at the start of the quarter to 1.3K by the end. Weekly active users also decreased, beginning at 23K and closing the quarter with about 18K.
