In the second quarter of 2024, the Android shopping category saw various trends in user engagement and app downloads. Here's a brief overview of how the top five shopping applications performed in the US market, with data sourced from Sensor Tower.
Temu: Shop Like a Billionaire experienced a mixed trend in downloads, starting at approximately 58K in the first week of April and peaking at around 86K by the end of April. The downloads eventually declined to roughly 43K by the end of June. Weekly active users showed a generally increasing trend, from approximately 213K in the first week of April to around 254K by the end of June.
SHEIN-Shopping Online showed an initial increase in downloads, reaching about 38K in the third week of April, but saw a decrease to around 24K downloads towards the end of June. Active users, however, remained robust, with a climb from roughly 606K to about 665K over the quarter.
Vinted - Buy and sell clothes had a remarkable surge in downloads from virtually negligible figures in mid-May to a peak of approximately 81K in early June, then tapering off to around 42K by the end of the quarter. The active user count followed a similar trajectory, starting at just a few hundred to reaching over 106K in the third week of June.
ABOUT YOU Online Fashion Shop saw its downloads peak at roughly 28K in the third week of April and then declined to around 3K by the end of June. Weekly active users showed a downward trend, starting at about 81K and falling to approximately 51K by the quarter's close.
Lastly, Lidl Plus had a relatively stable performance with downloads ranging from 15K to 17K in the early weeks of April, declining to about 8K by the end of June. Active users fluctuated slightly but mostly hovered around the 150K mark throughout the quarter.
