The first quarter of 2024 has seen interesting trends in the performance of the top 5 navigation apps in Africa. Here’s a breakdown of their weekly downloads, revenue, and active user metrics.

Google Maps maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads peaking at 75K in early January and experiencing a gradual decline to 53.5K by mid-March, before slightly recovering to 62.7K by the end of the quarter. Active users for the app consistently hovered around 2.8M, peaking at 3.1M in early February before settling back to 2.8M by the end of March.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic showed a steady download rate, starting at 26.8K in early January, dipping slightly to 22.9K mid-quarter, and ending strong with 29.2K in the final week of March. Active users for Waze remained relatively stable, starting at 454K and fluctuating around this figure, ending the quarter at 442K.

Radarbot: Speed Cameras | GPS saw weekly revenue peaking at $3.8K in late February. Downloads for Radarbot remained consistent throughout the quarter, ranging from 16.1K to 19.7K. Active users saw a slight decline from 61K at the beginning of the quarter to 55.5K by the end of March.
