Q4 2023 Performance of Top Utilities Apps on iOS in the UK

As the final quarter of 2023 wrapped up, the Utilities category on the iOS platform in the United Kingdom showcased interesting trends in user engagement and downloads. Sensor Tower provides us with a comprehensive look into how five key applications fared during this period.

Google started the quarter with around 75K downloads, peaking at 85K in late October, before a dip to approximately 57K in mid-December, and a rebound to nearly 80K by year-end. Weekly active users showed relative stability, beginning at 2.88M and ending slightly higher at 2.9M.

Google Chrome experienced a similar trajectory in downloads, kicking off with around 52K and experiencing a rise to over 61K in the last week of December. The active user base remained above 3M throughout the quarter, illustrating consistent usage.

The British Gas Energy app saw its downloads fluctuate, starting at roughly 35K and dropping to about 14K by the close of December. Despite this, weekly active users increased from around 152K to over 270K, indicating growing user retention.

GOV.UK ID Check downloads varied, with a high of 36K mid-quarter and a low of 20K in the final week. The application's weekly active users saw a steady climb from nearly 394K to over 436K before a slight dip to 436K by quarter's end.

Lastly, Google Authenticator downloads hovered between 18K and 25K throughout Q4. Its active users peaked at over 209K towards the end of October and then gradually declined to 140K by the end of December.
