In the fourth quarter of 2023, the performance of the top travel apps on the iOS platform in South Africa showcased a mix of trends in downloads and active users. Here’s a closer look at the data from Sensor Tower.

Bolt: Request a Ride saw its weekly downloads start at around 14K in late September, then dip to a low of approximately 7.4K by mid-October. However, downloads picked up again, reaching about 10.6K in early December. The app's weekly active users showed a slight decline from 68.2K at the end of September to around 56.4K by the end of December, with some fluctuations in between.

Uber - Request a ride experienced a steady download rate, beginning at about 8.5K in late September and maintaining around 7.2K to 8.2K in December. Active users started high at 103.4K in late September but saw a gradual decline to approximately 78.9K by the end of December.

Booking.com: Hotels & Travel had a relatively stable download rate, with weekly downloads ranging from 4.3K to 5.3K throughout the quarter. Active users remained consistent, starting at 75.3K in late September and slightly increasing to 78.1K by the end of December.

FlySafair showed varied weekly downloads, starting at around 3.5K in late September, peaking at 5.4K in mid-November, and ending at about 3.4K in December. Active users increased from 14.8K in late September to a peak of 20.2K in mid-November, before settling at around 17.8K by the end of December.

inDrive. Save on city rides had a steady download rate, starting at approximately 4K in late September and ending at around 4.2K by December. Active users showed a slight decline from 34.1K in late September to about 31K by the end of December.
