The fourth quarter of 2023 has been an eventful period for the education category on the Android platform in the United States. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top 5 education apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Duolingo: Language Lessons saw its weekly revenue fluctuate throughout the quarter, starting at approximately $617K and peaking at around $1.77M in the final week of December. Weekly downloads for the app varied, reaching a high of about 125K in the week of October 30 and ending the quarter with roughly 91K downloads. Active users showed a consistent trend, with a slight increase from 2.07M to 2.27M over the quarter.

Photomath experienced a steady decrease in weekly revenue, starting at approximately $33K and dropping to about $20K by the last week of December. Downloads showed a notable decline, from around 51K in late September to just over 6K in the final week of December. Active users followed a similar downward trend, falling from 1.5M to around 569K.

Headway: 15-Min Book Summaries had a significant increase in weekly revenue, starting at approximately $51K and peaking at around $102K in early November, before ending the quarter at nearly $90K. Weekly downloads varied, with a peak of about 58K in the final week of December. Active users also saw growth, rising from roughly 104K to 175K by the end of the quarter.

Google Classroom did not generate any revenue during this period. However, its download numbers showed a decline from around 43K in late September to approximately 12.5K in the last week of December. Active users saw a significant drop from around 3.07M to about 1.07M over the same period.

ClassDojo experienced a steady decline in weekly revenue, starting at approximately $177K and decreasing to about $50K by the end of December. Downloads also dropped, from around 46K in late September to about 12.7K in the final week of the quarter. Active users fell from around 2.45M to approximately 620K over the same period.
