As the final quarter of 2023 came to a close, the Australian automotive app market saw varied performances among its top contenders on the Android platform. Insights from Sensor Tower reveal the download and user engagement trends for these applications.
Pinecone Software's Petrol Spy Australia maintained a consistent user base with weekly active users hovering around 24K to 25K throughout the quarter. Downloads saw a dip from 5K to approximately 3K in early October but rebounded to nearly 4K by the year's end.
Ampol, another key player, experienced fluctuations in downloads, starting the quarter with about 3K and peaking at over 3.6K in November. The end of the quarter saw a decline to just under 3K downloads.
BPme by BP Australia Pty Ltd showed a downward trend in both downloads and weekly active users. Downloads decreased from just under 3K to around 1.5K, and active users fell from 7.8K to just under 6K by the close of Q4.
CARS24 Services Private Limited's CARS24™- Used Cars 100% Online saw a surge in downloads mid-quarter, jumping from less than 1K to over 1.8K, but ended the quarter with a slight decrease, stabilizing around 1.2K downloads.
Lastly, the NSW FuelCheck app, backed by the Department of Customer Service in Australia, showed a steady increase in weekly active users from 33K to just over 35K. Downloads remained relatively stable with a slight increase from around 1.1K to 1.4K by the quarter's end.
