In the third quarter of 2023, the top 5 travel applications on the iOS platform in Africa saw varying trends in weekly downloads and active users. Data from Sensor Tower provides insights into these trends.

Bolt: Request a Ride experienced fluctuations in weekly downloads, starting at around 30.7K in late June and peaking at approximately 36.5K by the end of September. Active users saw a dip mid-quarter, reaching a low of 185K in mid-August before recovering to about 226K by the end of the quarter.

inDrive. Save on city rides had a fairly stable trend in weekly downloads, ranging from 20.1K to 28.3K over the quarter. Active users showed a gradual increase, starting from 118K in late June and reaching around 128K by the end of September.

Uber - Request a ride displayed consistent growth in both downloads and active users. Weekly downloads increased from 21.0K in late June to about 27.4K by the end of September. Similarly, active users rose from 532K to approximately 601K over the same period.

Booking.com: Hotels & Travel saw stable weekly downloads, hovering between 11.4K and 13.8K throughout the quarter. Active users remained steady as well, fluctuating around the 175K mark, ending the quarter at about 177K.

DiDi Rider: Affordable rides had more variability in weekly downloads, starting at 8.6K in late June, dipping to 7.0K in mid-September, and then recovering to 8.3K by the end of the quarter. Active users showed minor fluctuations, maintaining a range between 29.8K and 32.4K.
