In the third quarter of 2023, the performance of the top five iOS news applications in Central America varied significantly across different metrics such as weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at how each app performed, based on data from Sensor Tower.

X, published by X Corp., exhibited a steady revenue trend with a peak of approximately $15.3K in the week of August 14. Weekly downloads showed a decline over the quarter, starting from 45.9K in late June and dipping to around 26.4K by early September, before slightly rebounding to 32.5K by the end of the quarter. The app’s active user base also saw a gradual decrease from 2.89M in late June to 2.67M by the end of September.

REFORMA, from Editora el Sol, saw its weekly revenue fluctuate, peaking at $10.1K in mid-August. Weekly downloads remained relatively stable, hovering around 200 downloads, with a slight increase to 277 downloads by mid-September.

SkyAlert: Alerta Sísmica, by Skyalert de Mexico SAPI de CV, experienced significant variations. Weekly revenue surged to $21.5K in mid-September, while weekly downloads peaked at 6.5K in early September. Active users also saw a notable increase, reaching 14.6K in mid-September, before declining to 7.3K by the end of the month.

EL NORTE, another app from Editora el Sol, maintained a fairly steady revenue stream, with a high of $7.3K in mid-August. Weekly downloads were consistent, averaging around 150, with a slight uptick to 228 downloads by mid-September.

Bloomberg: Business News Daily, from Bloomberg Finance LP, showed an upward trend in revenue, peaking at $4.2K in the last week of September. Weekly downloads were relatively stable, ranging from 115 to 252 throughout the quarter. Active users increased steadily, reaching 985 by mid-September.
